Costa Rica Day 25: Sloths monkeys and lots of desserts

The day started early with breakfast at 7am. As usual, I had fruits, gallo pinto, plantains, pancakes and more eggs!! I've got 2 fried eggs because the egg man made a mistake and everyone else wanted scrambled. I really like how the fried eggs here are cooked. The yolks are runny and the eggs are not that fully cooked, which makes the eggs softer and smoother (for slurping!).

So far my host mom in heredia and the white water rafting operation centre egg lady and this resort egg man cooked my eggs the way I love it. Hehehe. So good so yumz.

While carrying a food baby, we went on a wildlife hike to spot the wildlife animals. We were really lucky to spot 2 sloths and 2 howler monkeys and a baby monkey.

Can you spot the sloth?

Walked along the carribean beach to a lookout point, which wasn't too impressive, but good enough lah.

The hike up to the lookout point also not say too tough. We didn't have much time to swim at the beach cos I wanted to explore the town called Puerto Viejo. The bus leaves for the town at 11.45am from our resort. But I managed to buy a coconut on the beach!

These locals carry the parang with them like we carry scissors

I love this photo heh. So much love for coconut water.

& Sheila offered me a Pati, which is something like a curry puff with something tasting like smashed peas in it. Yet, I was told it was some sort of meat after eating it. Omg. The thought of it now is still grossing me out. Thinking back, I was really feeling unwell and dizzy after lunch and while shopping at Puerto Viejo. That's probably the cause of it.

Because of Irene's recommendations, I tried the local food with the special carribean sauce on the fish at this store called "Tamara". They also has a bar and offers alcoholic beverages.  It wasn't anything special really. Just that this rice and beans are cooked with coconut milk.

The Caribbean sauce on my fish was just like onions and chilli and tomato sauce tasting. Like the Chinese sweet and sour but much much diluted and not that dense and concentrated. It was quite pricey though for a store like that. I paid about $10 for it, which I don't think it's worth that amount.

Walked around the shops but was feeling unwell esp when the local designs and the reggae vibe are full of patterns and colours. Meh. The local designs were severely overpriced I feel.. A dress that's like some table cloth material costs USD$36 leh. And Sheila bought a shorts that's like those China wholesale kind for USD$30. Not I say one. She admitted herself. lol.

I saw a pair of handicraft earrings that are baked. I really like those. It's like a concave glass on top of this digitally illustrated birds. But it's USD$10 so I thought for super long haha. Eventually I've decided to spend that on... desserts.

Went to bread and chocolate with Sheila and omg, we can eat a lot. We shared a waffle, a quintessential choc cake and a brownie with cocoa nibs. We also had one iced cappuccino each. Muahaha. And can you believe it... Everything except for the iced cappuccino was so. damn. good.

Bread and chocolate cafe :)

Sheila and I and our sucky iced @.

Super duper damn yummy waffles. Really super fluffy and soft. I usually will skip the cream, but I finished everything for this. They made the cream themselves and oh my goodness, homemade cream is so good!! soooooo smooth and the volume goes well with the sweetness of the jam and the fluff of the waffles!! I will really think about this waffle one leh.

This is good too, but I had something as good from Vegie Bar (in Melbourne) so not as impressed.

BEST BROWNIE IN MY LIFE. THE CACAO NIBS IN THERE WERE SURPRISING AND GIVES THE BROWNIE SO MUCH CRUNCH. It's a sin to share, really.

I was really full and dinner at 7pm back at our resort was just too much.

Omg one drama today. I went to the reception and paid for my drink I ordered last night at the bar. And guess what? That friggin receptionist was so damn rude. My bill was $6 and plus all those taxes it's about $7.38 but wth, last night he wrote $5???????

And it was an obvious scribbled over and it is $6 now. How can they do this man. And what made me so angry was that I specially told him to write down the price of my drink on the bill since it was something I ordered out of menu and I don't want any price disputes afterwards. And there you go, can't avoid eventually.

That woman told me to open my eyes and look at the menu and the name of the cocktail written by the girl behind the bar was a name on the menu which costs $6. It's called Almond tropicale something like that. I did not order that. And I thought it was just a name for the random cocktail I ordered according to my liking. Well, I tried to explain my situation to the receptionist but she didn't want to take my story and wanna go by the bill. Seriously pissing me off.

So I paid. And what's worse... She told me she's giving me change in colones cos they don't have USD. SERIOUSLY DONT HAVE USD CAN DONT PUT USD ON THE MENU AND ACT ONE ATAS MAMA????!! Paying in colons can save me up to $2 in total because I've got a good exchange rate. This woman getting on my nerves!!!! Didn't even give me receipt until I asked for it and she unwillingly went into her office to photocopy for me. While doing that she was mumbling things to her manager.

Wth just get on with life man. Anyway I was so angry that I shouted(almost lah. Just loudly) a sarcastic THANK YOU and stormed off. Lol. I think the manager knows his stuffs better and that's why he's the manager and the woman is just a receptionist.

The manager ran behind me and asked me if anything is wrong. so I explained everything to him, and tadah!!!! He admitted it is the bar's mistake and one free drink on the house for me!!! Heh so after dinner, the bartender made a yummy drink made of Bailey's milk and mint. And I played pool with Sheila till about almost 12 midnight. Hahaha free pool game why not right :p
