Costa Rica Day 24: White Water Rafting Part II

Good morning!! Freaking cold and wet day because the rain didn't stop at all, until now! The whole night was raining and I woke up a few times at night because the rain was pitter-pattering on the roof. Put on my wet clothes for another day of advanced white water rafting. It was freezing cold with my wet clothes on... They are never dry even if I hung them out for the whole night. Everything was so wet and damp, even my money notes turned soggy no kid.

Breakfast was gallo pinto - fried rice version of rice and beans.

Example of gallo pinto

Also with eggs, plantains and pineapple.

Plantains when it's unprepared

Fried plantains. More starchy and tougher compared to banana.

Omg, this local breakkie was really yumz. But because it was raining, we had to rush our breakkie and quickly load up our boats and get going before the water level rises, which will then make our rafting tougher to complete.

Today's rafting consisted of class 3 & 4 rapids. Thanks to the rain, we got to go through about 3-4 class 4 rapids!!! Which were all so fun and exciting. I almost fell off the boat a few times, but I slided back in again :p

Georgia tried to pull me out of my boat from her boat, but luckily I was really stable. Got a few abrasions against the boat but better than getting smashed against the rock walls.

When we were at the end of the series of rapids, we had to unload all the things and sit in the bus for another 20 minutes and dripping water everywhere. There was only garbage bags on our seats to keep them dry.

When we reached the operation centre (where our big backpacks were locked), I quickly took a shower. Luckily I've got towel and toiletries packed in my daypack. Omg so good!! Felt so good to be clean and dry (for a while). I had rice and pasta for lunch. I ate so much!! Had one cuppa hot choc and hot mocha. Oh gosh, my tummy was so warm and comfy for the next bus ride that's about 3 hours away.

We stopped by some roadside stall for the traditional ice cream. Basically, it's just ice pop in a plastic bag and you bite a hole at the bottom and nomz on the ice.

Even though that was the last stop to get traditional ice pop, I didn't want to ruin my snuggly warm tummy feeling so I gave that a skip...

When we arrived at our new accommodation (Almonds & Corals) in the middle of a random rainforest, wow. Just wow.

Our unit. Note that there are no walls! Just a green net and white curtains.

Private jacuzzi in our unit heh.
I was sharing a unit with Sheila and Courtney and this place felt so damn clean with no random insects roaming around. There's also a mini Jacuzzi in a corner. How awesome is that.

Dinner was massive and they had this battered fish thing with coconut cream sauce omg so damn good. They even serve individual plates of dessert!!!!

MY MASSIVE DINZ. Love the fish & tapioca chips

The WiFi at the restaurant sucks really. The cocktails at the bar were quite cheap, so I decided to get something with fresh pineapples... probably with malibu. But they only have limited choice. So I ordered Bailey's with milk, rum and ice. The bartender said it was $5 and the other girl wrote some cocktail name to my bill and left the price column blank. To make sure that it is $5, I double-checked with the bartender and he wrote $5 on my bill. All tabs are being collated and passed on to the lobby reception for payment.

Went back to our room and played cards with the girls. That was when I learned (finally) how to play 斗地主 from Sheila.
