We stopped by this station to lock our big backpacks and have breakfast there too. It was all laid on the table and we will just queue and take. Oh guess what.. only rock melon and 1 rotten banana was left. Thank goodness those are my faves, including rotten bananas. I was one of the last few to take... But seriously why so damn selfish don't even wanna save some for other fellow participants. Ok lah, if very little I have nothing to say. But don't take one whole plate of pineapples lah. I totally have no faith anymore. You know how people kept saying Singaporean guys very hopeless not gentlemen??? I tell you, angmohs in general are all individualistics. Bronte was the only one who brought a luggage and was struggling to carry it down the stairs. NOBODY STOPPED TO HELP HER. even people who brought their bags downstairs just sat down at the lobby. Some people went up again who saw her also didn't offer to help. And Bronte also kept insisting that she's fine. Lol. Seriously, I've faith in sg guys because I'm sure 99.5% of my friends will help. I tried to help, but she kept insisting that I already have so many things to carry. So I quickly went down to put my stuffs and went back to help her. she was still at the same position struggling. Haiz. Not sure what to feel about this. Why are people so selfish?
Alright, back to breakkie this morning. Basically, Sheila and I were the last ones to get our food. And she very nicely waited for me while the lady cooked my eggs separately without the ham.
In the end, the area was all full. When Sheila and I were walking around finding seats, some of them were just staring. What can I say??? Well... Give them the benefit of doubt.. they were staring probably because they were worried that we don't have seats and wanted to help by the power of staring.
Whatever. I also don't wanna uncomfortably squeeze in with the cliques here and there. So we went to another section likka antisocials and sat with the guides and driver.
And off we go for rafting! As always being the leftover, I just joined a group with 7 people. One boat has 8 people.
The activity was really fun and tiring. I like the active part of it but not too extreme. We moved and pedalled and swimmed but it was all under control and manageable. We were rafting through level 1&2 rapids today, so that wasn't too bad. We were still able to enjoy the scenery and not fall off the boat. We weren't sitting in the boat. We are required to sit on the edge of the boat, but our legs inside.
Before lunch, we hiked for a bit. Omg jellies (my monk sandals) were so slippery!!! I didn't wanna buy a water reef walkers just for this so I just got jellies for AUD$3. Haiz, I should have been more prepared. It wasn't so bad but I felt really unsafe because I was slipping off rocks and might injure myself.
Anyway, we got to this small swim hole with small current and we were able to jump down from the short cliff of maybe 1-1.5m. It was small peanut hehe cos I did a 6m high one during canyoning in NZ.
After the hike was lunch in the middle of the river where we parked our boats. We flipped one boat over to use it as a table. Ssandwiches for lunch!!! Oh gosh. It was so good! I put lettuce tomato onions beans and some crushed corn chips with guacamole in my sandwich. Been a while since I have a sandwich!
After lunch was some food coma but more white water rafting. We were trying out some action at one of the rapids.. we only succeeded on our third time when the left side of the raft got stuck in the rapid and the water was just rushing into our boat but it was really stable because of us being "stuck". We were enjoying the "adventure" cos it was so exciting so close of capsizing. It took a while before our leader told us to keep pedalling forward to get out of the rapid whirlpool.
Another time was climbing up a few rocks and when we reached the top, he told us to jump into the water and swim to our boats. Omg haha that was totally unexpected but I really like jumping from high point into the water. It was about 2-3m high now. The best part was after jumping, my life jacket just keeps me floating and the current just pushes me forward. I just lay on my back and wade towards my boat. heh. It was really really fun.
After we reached our lodge, we had to form a human chain and passed all the food for the next 2 days here, the barrels and rubbish and all the barang barangs. Freaking heavy I tell you. And we reached the end of the human chain, we still have a long way to go up to the lodge. That's when we had to carry stuffs and walk up on our own. idk why I'm so lucky the barrel I carried was so freaking heavy I stopped so many times and it was also bulky so hard to carry. I had to alternate between pulling the handles and hugging the barrel. I made it eventually but my back..... I can feel the strain omg. So not gonna do that anymore!!! I'm going to just leech in another person and help carry one barrel. Also I guess by then we will have lesser to carry since we will be finishing most of the food already.
Dinner was yumz. We had rice with cheese and some mixed tomato capsicum broth. I think the rest had huge chunks of chicken in their broth too.
With pineapple of course! (Pineapple is the number one export in Costa Rica. Coffee beans number 2). I helped out at the kitchen cutting onions (& shedding tears) and shredding 3 huge blocks of cheese gosh that took me ages!!!
But it was all worthwhile because we helpers get to go up and get the food first :p being a slow eater, it's always wise to have a head start first otherwise I will end up with no food or having to rush my food and I hate that. Hahaa also more timely if I wanna get second serving hehehe.
Ok because we didn't have internet, I slept so early. And also I was already dozing off since I've already used up most of my energy during rafting.
I'm sleeping on the upper bunk right under the lightbulb. The lights attract flies and bugs!! They just drop and ended up on my linen... :( and Georgia spotted a bullet ant crawling on my bed towards me and quickly warned me. I swear I really was gonna drop off from the edge of my bed. Apparently they're really poisonous creatures and even by touching them, it'll really sting! So I tried to squash it using my bottle and failed. Georgia tried using her metallic torch and squish it using the edge of her torch. It didn't move for a while and started moving again wth so stubborn!!!! In the end she helped me by using my Ziploc bag (was for my phone) and catch it and Tessa helped me chuck the ant outside. lol. Thank goodness for them.
Shit the light from my phone is attracting all sorts of flies. Have to run now. Ciao.
