Costa Rica Day 6: Back to Monday

It's back to Monday and we had Spanish class as usual. We started at 8.30am in the morning so we've got a bit of time after class to have lunch and chill. So we went to this ice cream place to try their pops but oh no, that pistachio wasn't nutty at all. Really disappointed with the ice cream. The cone was like the ones from maccas.

Lunch was really sucky too!! I ordered pescado (fish)!!!!!! We had takeaways and ate in a park. When I opened up my pack, surprise surprise!!!! It was beef oh gosh how gross. so I only ate the salad which was similar to coleslaw with rice. Sad.

Ah but the leftover half pint of haagen daaz at home saved my day. I finished it, every bit of it just before dinner was served.

Did homework and packed a bit and napped for a while too. Another unlucky was that I could not find the key to open up the money box which was in my previous room!!! I put my money in it and there were 2 keys on the box when I came here the first night. I put a key at home in a drawer and brought the other one in my bag. Just to be safe if any one of them got lost, I have a back up plan. But no!!! I could not find the one in the drawer and guess what.mm another surprise!!! The key in my bag was slightly bigger than the lock of the money box! No way!!! That must've been a key to other drawers in the room :(

Patricia (the host family friend/housekeeper) was so angst and kept asking me where is the key where is the key in Spanish, and I wanted to tell her I swear I put it in the drawer and now it's gone!!! But she kept telling me there's nothing in the drawer and even showed me. I know right I know!! I went to see and they were all emptied out already after the mouse incident. Xinia (host mom) and Adrianna (host mom's daughter) wasn't at home and Patricia was questioning me and sighing and getting all flustered.
She must be thinking why am I such a pain in the ass. Firstly, I placed food in my room and attracted mouse that caused them so much trouble that they have to clean the room and shift my bed with Jacq. Then now I lost the key to the money box. Sucha troublemaker ey? She must be thinking that I'm lying :(

Sighpie. Dinner was already ready so she stopped and smiled telling me to have dinner first. But then just before dinner, she found a key on the floor of my previous room!!!! We tried on the money box and it worked!!!! I was really telling the truth. everything I said was the truth!! :(

I guessed when Xinia (host mom) was cleaning the place, she probably pulled the key out with other things in the same drawer and didn't realise it because it was just too small.

Thank goodness she found it!!!! Really. omg otherwise I'd have to bring it to the locksmith and spend some money to get some money out.

Anyway, dinner was super good today because Patri cooked prawn fried rice!!! Tasted really Chinese and I tasted home!!! I asked her but she said that is Costa Rican food and explained that it's similar to Chinos food (Chinese food)!! Whatever it is, really yumz!!

Waited for a bit before heading out to a live music disco place in another town named San Jose. Gosh, the interior was really cosy and spacious. but the toilet.... Was really bad. they only have got 2 cubicles.. and every time I wanna pee so urgently, there's definitely a queue to it.

I tried the coffee liquor with milk and I'm so glad I managed to order it successfully!!! With milk somewhere. it turned out to be likka cocktail. Aw how lovely is that barmaid! :) it's only about $6 :p many people were asking me what my drink was muahahahah. Thanks wikipedia! I did my research hiak. The local beer costs about $2.50-$3 hehe.

It was reallly hard for me to catch what they're saying because they were all so loud and that accent wasn't helping at all. I had to focus really hard to figure out. Once they talked about tv series or celebrities, that's probably my dead end.

We've got 2 hosts who brought all of us out so we were called out to leave the disco just before 1am.. :( at least we know we are in good and safe hands!

I had fun it's been a while since I went out to drink and dance! Even though the group is really very different from me, I was entertained because these auusies were so loud and they really go all out. Some New Zealanders too! They're so cute. Ok I admit I faked a stupid accent I sounded so stupid. I need to speak Singlish to some Singaporeans please??? Otherwise I will feel so incomplete and uncomfortable. :( I need some comfort in my language!!!!!!

There were some girls who weren't really drinking much, and it was pretty awkward with them just standing around .. that point in time, I am really thankful of the exposure I got from being a regulat at Zouk. Nothing to be proud of, but that did help tonight keeping me away from unwanted attention and awkward moments. I can actually fit in with my Asian fave and fake accent, or at least I wasn't dreading being out. We played drinking game too. In Singapore we have the "I never" game right..? The aussies do it the "I never have I ever...".yea I know right why so long and troublesome. "So they go like you know... I nevaaaar harfe I evaaaaa" :p

They all gave really unexpected answers! It was really fun with a little bit of culture shock. Been in Melbourne for 2 years.. but hearing about their culture varies vastly with seeing & experiencing their culture first hand!

Ok, I should be learning the culture in Costa Rica... But oh well, it's been 6 days with a huge group of aussies and kiwis I can't expect to absorb much of the Costa Rica culture right!

They must have been having fun together in a group with like minded people.. and for me, it's more of like a cultural trip and forcing myself onto being Australianized. But nahhhh, I'm too Asian and Chinesey to be australianasianized. Yes you get that we have the term.

Tomorrow there is Spanish class and a test noooooooo. We are moving to a hotel for one night tomorrow for volunteering briefing sesh. Excited for the next 2 weeks, but totally clueless about what's going to happen.

Till the next wifi hotspot. :)
