Even though Ning reassured me quite a number of times, it just doesn't really hit me when the name list of the top 6 was not out yet.
On 18/5, top 6 contestants were out. I was the last contestant then, and once I heard my voice, I couldn't react. And I was super nervous. Whenever they asked us about our feelings or thoughts, I just can't wait to admit and let the whole world know that I'm nervous.
To the extent that I found myself annoying.
Everybody will definitely be nervous and I didn't do a good job to control that.
The final was on 24/5 and I had about 5 days to prepare for it. Research on potential interviewees and preparing for a talent segment. Eventually, I've decided on Karate kata and self defence demonstration. The prep work was not smooth at all. But I'm so damn blessed with friends who kept giving me suggestions and ideas. Charles was my shifu for ALL of my karate performance. He chose the music, modified the kata, taught me how to suit the kata on the beats of the music, and planned my self defence demo. Ok, and he was also my puppet for the day itself at 1 KM mall. Thanks de.
On the day itself, I kept reminding myself not to be the annoying nervous person again. It's really inevitable though. I'm just glad that I took it easy and every stage went by very quickly. The process was really enjoyable. It felt great to be on stage! I'm quite happy to be the first contestant to start each stage. And whenever we lined up on stage, Ning will just be standing beside me and that gave me so much comfort and support, likka good bra. She is also the one who kept feeding me with tips on what to practice and how to practice (like reading news daily & I recite 联合早报 to my therapist every Thurs for 1 hour, risking a sore throat siol). It all adds up and helped A LOT.
My relatives and friends were also down to support me. Even my grandma went down with my mom and my cousins. My dad brought the second batch with my bro, his gf and my sis. Part sailorsirs, Harry and bbjlb and a man who risked his life and Airin and my aunt and Ailing jiejie and Charles who flew all the way from Jambi.
Post celebration was a feast at HDL, round 2 at bingsu, followed by a film "The Grand Budapest Hotel" at Ning's, and round 3 at Blooie's Roadhouse (what? I forgot the name.. Along rail mall).
Shiok de sia. Having the freedom to eat without thinking is such luxury. Hopefully I won't get too affected by the media perception of beauty. Shit but I really think I will. Then again, I don't wanna starve myself. But again, I wanna look good. LOL. Balance balance again..
Hmmmm, but other than my sudden influx of fb notifications, my life is pretty much the same. Sleep, eat, coffee, making waffles, paktor and exercise (i going for yoga tomorrow morning hor). I can't really register the fact that I managed to emerge as the champion.. After all, I was kicked out when I first joined the competition 5 years ago!
BUT I'M JUST VERY EXCITED TO BE WORKING WITH NING UNDER THE SAME COMPANY! Wa, likka cannot run away from this girl one. Opportunities always happened to put both of us close together, but with a safe distance, such as being in different classes in school.
Hehe. Yay de! Yay to victory! (Y)!!
I think you guys are already sick of the photos on facebook, so here's one Ning sent me that revealed the auntie side of me. Kiap the $3k like that in public omg. Too hairpee and excited until didn't take note of my actions.
