Foodie in the burg

Yesssss finally updating my blog after so long. I don't even have internet at home so blogging from my phone now while using the heater in the library in coburg haha. I really enjoy this suburb even though majority of the people here are middle easterns and Italians, mostly immigrants. They are so much friendlier and genuine. After moving from Essendon to Coburg, I've been exposed to a wide range of middle eastern food places. Egyptian, Lebanese and Turkish food. Maybe because I have no contact in this kinda food before, I found it really interesting and damn, they taste so good!!! I JUST WANNA TRY THEM ALL! NOM NOM NOM. There are also some western style brunchy cafés around. Most of the bakeries are selling continental sweets. Very different from city shops. It's also only that few shops here to go for food so it can be quite limited. BUT, I've yet to try all that I wanna try. Especially those Lebanese pastries. Gosh so good. Zaatar so soft and with all the spices..... Yumz!! Behold and wait for my anpanman face.

I'll start with this new but small indie cafe in the suburb. Went there only once with Heidi the first weekend when we first moved there.

True North
Coffee: 7.5/10
I think they used Espresso for the coffee. It was strong but a little towards the bitter end. But yes strong! Not so much of the sweet espresso sort.

Food: 7/10
They cater well to vegetarians. The service staffs told me that I can choose anything from the menu and those will be replaced by vegetarian meat. But well... I ate smoked salmon in the end haha.

Ambience: 8/10
Indie lo. Heidi and I were sitting by the window, thinking we were cool to people watch. But actually people were watching us eating behind the glass window hahaha like watching animals in the zoo.

Service: 8.5/10
Staffs were very friendly and welcoming. Took the initiative to explain the menu when we were seated and took note of our dietary requirements. The guy who sat us down knows that I am "vegetarian"(well, sort of) and when another lady took out order, the guy came back to our table to check that I am able to eat smoked salmon. Yep yep... I'm a fake vegetarian 😅

Heidi and I happy and satisfied with our indie brunch before heading off to run errands/study urgh those days with endless assignments! RAWR.

Small and cosy cafe.

My baked eggs with smoked salmon topped with feta and pickles.
Interesting, but I would very much prefer baked eggs in Mediterranean style spammed with spices. This is quite simple and couldn't go too different if u throw in a bowl of eggs cheese and salmon into the oven.

Overall, because of the competitive prices Lebanese bakeries offer, I only visited this place once and that's it.

Ok I'll slowly work out the others. I'm getting a bit dizzy blogging from my phone. The screen is pathetically small and whenever I upload photos I have to scroll all the way down again to continue typing. Navigation sucks. Better than nothing. Yay to an update finally!!!
