It was quite a surprise to receive wishes from kwok jy. I am not particularly close to her and yet she's one of those who cared and sent me a text in the middle of the night.
Went for breakfast at NP's toastbox with BBJLB. Nothing can be better with good breakfast PLUS good company PLUS good atmosphere (the youthful air in campus).
Surprise lunch buffet at a cafe in a hotel! Act one atas only!! Hahaha but I was really happy because there were so much food! And the girls got the staffs to sing birthday song for me. Honestly speaking, at first when I heard the birthday song, I even thought, "Wah so coincidental, same birthday as me." When I turned my head around to look, they were walking towards our table with the complimentary cake!! HOMG. Seriously!! The girls are really pro at this kind of surprise thing.
After gorging the food (and mostly dessert) down in 2.5 hours, we made our way to Dhoby Ghaut! For what? FOR FRIGGIN WORK. Yes, I had to work from 3pm-7.30pm on my birthday.
Ok fast forward to after work, I almost forgot that I parked the car near coro plaza and almost hopped onto 190 to get back to BP. Luckily 171 was just behind 190 and I remember I had to stop by Dunearn road. But that stretch of road was jammed!! ALL THE WAY BACK TO MY HOUSE ALL JAM. I got back home at about 9.30pm?! Ridiculous traffic conditions! Terrible horrible vegetable.
Washed up, waited for my brother to come back to cut the cake together before heading off to Zouk for my round II. Freaking awesome because at first I was quite worried that Amanda and I would be quite bored while waiting for Ning to come over after her work. I was also worried that I would be spending a bomb at the wine bar but thankfully, Christian was there too with his friends! It wasn't too bad. And Mambo is the best.

That's all on my birthday celebration. Photos are all uploaded on FB so I'm not going to spam it here. I'm glad that I managed to celebrate it this year, because I really neglect my birthday for the past few years.
Last year, I spent my 19th birthday in Shanghai. Went for work and went to the gym after work. Didn't do anything special at all! But thank goodness I have a very nice housemate who planned a mini surprise for me. After my gyming session, I went shopping at a 24hours supermarket located between the gym and my apartment when I received a call from Olivia. She said she was still stuck at the office doing overtime and reminded me to buy drinking water. So I bought water and walked home without suspecting anything.
I unlocked the door and walked to the living room (it's just 4 steps only. haha I make it sound like my apartment super big). Olivia was there holding a small piece of blueberry muffin and a lit candle! She even sang a birthday song solo for me! I lead a super simple life in Shanghai. Despite exercising like mad over there, I don't know why I looked so fat.

I was so afraid of eating at night so I kept this birthday muffin for my breakfast the next morning. |
You know as we grow older, there's less mood to celebrate, prepare presents or even a birthday card. But I have this friend who NEVER fail to get me a present. Honestly, I totally failed as a friend because I am not someone who is capable of preparing presents for my friends. Usually, I would just opt for the easy way out - TREAT THE BDAY PERSON TO A MEAL. Hahaha, sounds familiar right?
Okay so that friend is Chan Ning. Even when I was in Shanghai, that crazy girl sent me a box of Royce dark chocolate from Hong Kong. This year, she was also crazy. She got me branded stuffs. I was quite shocked when I saw what she got me. Maybe she thinks my wallet is too childish for my age hahahaha. But I have not changed into the new wallet she bought for me because a bit too new I cannot bear to use it.
It feels super good to rip open a present and it is something which you need. It requires a lot of thought and attention to be able to pick a present which is useful to the receiver and I think Ning is really good at this. Royce chocolate (particularly referring to the FATS) wasn't exactly what I needed but I almost screamed when I saw it.
Anyway, I super love the feeling of receiving presents. Wrapped presents in particular. The suspense you get and the excitement in ripping off the wrapping paper cannot be described in words.
So... Thank you very much my friend! I forgive you for going to TW without even telling me and I only found out from JY!! HAHAA ALSO THE ALBUM U GOT FOR JY AND AMANDA AND OUTCAST ME. I FORGIVE U!!! I know I'm quite petty lol.
My sister bought me real flowers and a birthday cake too. Why so sweet one? Even though the flowers were not very practical, and there're lots of fats in the cake, my heart melted when I saw the flowers and card on my table when I returned home. It's really the thoughts that count and I felt it. So awesome I felt so blessed and lucky. I feel bad asking for more.
Thank you loves!
