Train-ing my way

Because I stopped buying the bus concession since it's now $52 instead of the previous $50, I started taking more train services as they're faster. Even though it's only a mere 10% chance to get a seat in the train, it's really fast and convenient. Some amusing happenings I observed while I'm on the train today.

Tourists
I guess, due to YOG, there are more tourists these few days. In the train itself, there were some HK tourists. They were quite annoying. They talked loudly, dragging their luggage around as if the train was not packed enough. Then some people(who were sitting) left. These tourists just chionged with their luggage, pushed their way through to the empty seats. I wouldn't have noticed them until one of them literally pushed me aside.

Another angmoh I met at the platform looked kind of lost. I was walking around(because I was lost too). Seeing her looking lost, I slowed down a bit for her to approach me to ask for directions. I wanted to try helping. (Anyway, she was looking for the exit.) I was expecting something like "Er hi, sorry excuse me, may I know where is the exit?" Ok. Maybe something more casual, "Hi, do you know how to get out of here?" But no! She stared right into my eyes (because I was making an eye contact for her to approach me easily) and gave me a straight expression without even smiling. "Exit?" was all she said with the angmoh accent. At first, I didn't know what she was saying. So I replied, "Sorry?" (In case she don't understand "HUH?!") She went "EXIT! Where?" all demanding. And because I myself was lost, I couldn't reply her. At the end, she said "Thank you" though. But still, I thought that wasn't very nice.

Anyway, the point here is that everyone (I think mainly locals) think that Singaporeans are very rude and not well-mannered. However, I think that overly-generalised. Of course I don't mean I am very polite and well-mannered since I'm a Singaporean. But I don't think I'm very very rude. Maybe sometimes a little bit only. Even some people from other countries are rude as well. We can't just take into considerations the few representatives of the nation. It is not whether you are a Singaporean, or a Hongki, or a Korean, or a Japanese, or an Angmoh. It's purely based on you yourself individually.
