this is part of the Essay Question(on operas).
I'm surprised i managed to pass this essay.. *happy* (not now too..)
it's the "castrated" thingy that creates the "joke".
BUT HEY!! THAT IS TRUE OK!!!!
during the earlier period e.g. Baroque, they got very very very high male voices because they were being castrated before puberty age to maintain the high voice quality.
Soon after, most of the males do not want to sacrifice just for singing in opera, therefore, the high male voice registers were not common anymore.
